Congratulations to my dear student Jamie on winning first place with a high score of 90 (distinction) in class 105 at this year’s Hong Kong Schools Music Festival!
The piece was Beethoven’s Sonatina in G, first movement.
There were days when we spent time refining the piece — the grace notes, the phrasing and the tricky fingering bit, which proved difficult given the small size of your hands. In the end, it was hard work and dedication that pay off.
I’m especially glad to hear that you enjoyed playing it (yes you picked this piece out of the three I showed you). Please keep it on! I wish you continue to find joy, meaning and inspiration in music and love what you do.
